Personal Training

My Saturday started with our client appreciation day at Freddie’s Nutrition!
Freddie is such an amazing person!!!
You can’t help but love the guy for his sweet personality and smart business sense …
Freddie is totally approachable and down to earth!
He really is here to better someone’s life, which I love because that is my agenda as well!
We’ve had a great turn out 🙂
Angela and I did Fitness assessment, movement assessment, body fat, hydration, metabolic age, flexibility assessments, and strength tests !
There was a raffle to win supplement baskets, personal training sessions, and all kinds of other stuff…
My friend Jennifer Delgado, who is sponsored by optimum nutrition , was there!
I have seen her last on stage at the USA’s competing and placing 4th !
Jennifer is always in tip top shape, because she has to be!!!
Her sponsors require it from her!
She will be traveling to the Nationals in Atlanta soon, where she is trying to get her pro card!
I think it will be soon!!!
Jennifer is going for her pro card for 6 years now!
She works super hard, and competes about 7 times per year ( always on a diet).
She was off for two week and we asked her if she was splurging 😉
The food she calls cheats are rediculies ….
In two weeks she had 2 alcoholic beverages….
That’s ladies and gentlemen is dedication!
That’s what is required when you have a sponser that pays your training, traveling expenses, sign up fees and food for competition!!!
This is a job, and you better hold your end of it 😉
It was such a successful day.
At about 2:30pm I went to my second Party!
Team Captain Mervat Berry, Kimberly and Lars Bloomberg were holding a Party at the Bloomberg house as a appreciation to the LVFB Team as well as the nurses working with Doctor Lars Bloomberg!
How fun it was!!!
Pony rides, pool fun and tons of other stuff for the kids!
Great music, nice people….
We set up an area to promote Freddie’s and Optimum Nutrition, the LVFB Team, and me 😉
I met so many sweet and fun friends of Kimberly’s!!!
Kinda felt bad by being in my work clothes while everyone else was swimming and having fun…
I may have been better that way (lol)…
And I always love when I see our girls in bikinis, confident and showing themselves of 🙂
I love to help people feel beautiful and amazing!!!
It’s like being a proud momma (hahaha…)
Kimberly is such a great person!!!
She has the biggest heart 🙂
I feel so lucky to know her….
Mervat is a hard working woman!
She set up station and promoted LVFB team and sold Appearal all day long!
Mervat is one of the hardest working people you will ever know….
I know that she can achieve anything she puts her mind to 🙂
My friend Eric showed up with his 2 little kids!
I am so happy his kids had fun.
Eric performed DMS on me earlier…
He is also the sales rep for DMS!
I may have to suck it up and get me this device!
Eric is one of the super smart people…
He keeps improving his knowledge and keeps adding to his education!!!
What an amazing person…
I am glad to know him!
I wish I could have gone back for the night party!
But by then I was exhausted and glad to relax for a second!!!
It never gets boring in this profession!
And even though you don’t see me in the gym , doesn’t mean I’m not working (lol)
Cheers!!!

I have had some bad neck and shoulder pain for a while, but last week I over did it in my workouts ( not really but for a bad shoulder).
My friends Eric, who is a Physical Therapist, offered to treat me with a new tool he got…
Well I have seen this tool before in my Trainers Magazine, but the price was a little to high for me to buy it.
Of course I was excited about the treatment!!
I met him this morning after my cardio session to spend about 35 minutes being treated all over the body…
A very high vibratiion reminded me emidiately about the Power Plate ( kinda works similar).
It felt great and as I got of the floor, it was as I’ve just come out of a nap 🙂
The tool very much looks like a gun ( Eric has a different not as clean version…), and is pretty heavy!
After we were done I could feel an emidiate release from tightness, my shoulder was still tight, but didn’t hurt as much anymore.
My neck muscles have relased and my piriformis is not talking to me….
3 hours later lifting heavy groceries do not bother me anymore 🙂
I feel on Cloud 9 ( as Eric likes to say)!
This is what he mentioned on his FB wall:
“Deep Muscle Stimulator!
Time to rehab those injuries.
To me the DMS is current the best rehab/physical therapy/sports treatment available.
It is also used by professional sports including the NBA and NFL.
Much of muscle pain stems from various conditions, strain, lactic acid build up, scar tissue e.t.c……
The DMS uses percussion, mechanical vibration that reaches deep into the muscle tissue to stimulate proprioceptive function.
No other device on the market matches the effectiveness of the DMS.

The DMS provides deep muscle tissue with kinetic forms of percussion and concussion vibration, which in turn facilitates the patient or athlete with the benefits of:

Increased circulation
Reduced pain
Faster rehabilitation from injury
Increased lymphatic flow
Break up of muscular scar tissue
Reduced lactic acid buid up
Tissue Regeneration
Soft and Active Tissue release
The DMS also concentrates on general or local muscle spasm
It increases muscle metabolism and increases the lactic acid cycle to relieve pain.
Deep, rapid, short-duration percussion is the key to eliminating pain.
The DMS can be used in effective management of acute and chronic pain, not exclusive to but including migraine headaches, sciatica, TMJ, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendornitis, bursitis, edema, myofascial pain and frozen joints….
The DMS is known to increase the circulation of blood and flow of lymph.
The direct mechanical effect of rhythmical pressure and movement used in DMS can dramatically increase the rate of blood flow.
The stimulation of nerve receptors causes the blood vessels to dilate, which also facilitates blood flow.

DMS can help loosen contracted shortened muscles and can stimulate weak, flaccid muscles.
This muscle “balancing” can help posture and promote more efficient movement.
DMS is also being used for Integrated Manual Therapy and Musculoskeletal Dysfunction.
It is possible to do more exercise and training, which in the long run strengthens muscle and improves condition.
DMS also provides gentle stretching action to both muscle and connective tissue that surrounds and supports the muscle and many other parts of the body, which keeps these tissues elastic!

DMS aids recovery from soft tissue injuries such as strains and sprains.
This is possible because the growth ad repair of tissue are accelerated by efficient circulation in injured areas and appropriate stimulation of the healing tissues…..”

What Eric is trying to say here is ” it’s awesome”!!!!!!!

Thank you Eric for giving me your time and making me feel better 🙂

Everyone has their preverance on which muscle groups to combine!
Most people might use the old Weider principle which combines one larger and one smaller muscle group!
For example you would train Back and Biceps on Mondays, Chest and Triceps on Tuesdays, and Legs and Shoulders on Wednesdays!
As you may know we work a great amount of biceps by training back muscles already, so it seams to be logical to train both of the together!
We also train a good amount of triceps as we are working on our chest area, which makes it obvious to train those two at the same time!
I am using a guess on why to combine shoulders and Legs , just because I have been doing that lately to increase my overall caloric and carbohydrate intake on that specific day 🙂
We have also been using Arnold Schwarzenaeckers principal to train opposite muscles together…
Back and Chest, Biceps and Triceps ( and Shoulders), legs!
The reason why Arnold used this method was to keep blood flow in specific areas!
More blood flow , more nutrience being delivered, more muscle gain…
Sometimes you may want to concentrate on one area for one day…
It doesn’t really matter!!!
There is no right and no wrong.
You just want to switch it and change it around to make your body respond better 😉
Keeping the body from adapting is the key…
And our body is smart and learns fast!!!
So keep it going!
Change the workout…
Change weight/ reps…
Change muscle groups your combining…
Switch it up any way you can!
Doing the same thing over and over will keep you from reaching your goal!
Be creative 🙂

Opinions differ when it comes to cardiovascular training!
I’ve read multiple studies on cardio!
We all agree that cardio after your weight lifting workout is best since you are using carbohydrates (or glycogen ) as fuel while you are working with weights.
The first 20 min of cardiovascular training uses mostely carbohydrates or glycogen before entering any kind of fat burn.
That means that if you are doing cardio right before lifting you are not as strong as you were if you would be doing cardio after your lifting workout!
Pretty much you are running out of fuel ( as I like to say), or glycogen!
You are also more likely to burn muscle since there is no glycogen left for lifting = body turns muscle into glycogen!
What about cardio on an empty stomach?
Well, you should not eat right before your cardiovascular session…
Wait at least 60-90 min before cardio!
However I do not agree with cardio on an empty stomach first thing in the morning!
Studies (researched by accredited scientists not body builders) have shown that even though you are burning a small fraction more body fat while doing cardio on an empty stomach, you are burning much more muscle !!!
It is rather logic if you think…
You are coming out of a 6-8 hour hunger period ( our body loses muscle while we sleep due to not food intake, that’s why body builders get up at night and eat), and instead of feeding that muscle you are using empty glycogen stores to burn more muscle!!!
What about if you are using amino acids or BCAA’s?
Yes, they are designed to protect the muscle fiber , but it’s not enough!
BCAA’s don’t have glycogen!
The theory of cardio on an empty stomach first thing in the morning comes from professional body builders taking testosteron supplementation!
This prevents muscle breakdown and increases fat loss!
We Ladies and Gentelmen are in over the counter supplements and food!
My opinion?
For people that need a dramatic weight loss quickly, overweight clients, someone to get that excess weight of to make a certain date it is completely appropriate to do cardio on an empty stomach!
For someone that needs to build muscle, or needs to hold on to their muscle this will be a NO NO!
Each of us is completely different!
What works for one person may not work for another…
For me? I work very hard to gain muscle…
There is no way I will sacrifice my hard earned muscle and burn it!!!
I eat breakfast at 4:30am so I can do cardio at 6am!
Or I eat breakfast at 5am so I can do cardio at 7:30am, depending on my day 🙂
You can do your own research!
Don’t get your research from muscle magazines and body building subscriptions!
The IDEA has done some amazing studies on this and other subjects!
