Functional Training

 After moving back in town I finally made the decision that I wanted a trainer and I knew just who I wanted. I went on line and contacted a great friend whose body looked absolutely incredible. I asked her for her trainer’s “Claudia” contact information. I contacted Claudia immediately; I remember leaving a message on her phone feeling very desperate for help.  Claudia returned my call that afternoon and we scheduled a time that we could meet together. Upon our first meeting we instantly clicked. I told Claudia that I wanted to challenge myself and compete; she reassured me that she could get me to that point. I’ve always been athletic my entire life but I knew that competing was something entirely different that I wanted to accomplish.

On May 19, 2014 my fitness journey began. During my first week of training I felt in my heart that this was one of the best decisions that I’ve ever made.  After a month of training I started noticing a difference in my body I felt better I had more energy.  My body started to transform and my body fat went down during our weekly weigh in.  However, this was challenging because the temptation of Starburst, Peanut M&M’s , Kettle corn and Red Vines  were calling my name .  I resisted the temptation because I knew I had something to accomplish. On August 29, 2014 I competed in my first Figure competition. I placed 3rd and I was completely in shock.  The feeling was incredible! I honestly didn’t go in this sport for placing I just wanted to see what I was capable of doing. I never would have made it to this point without Claudia. I honestly have to say that I enjoy every moment working out with Claudia except when she says “Okay, I’m going to let you run”   just kidding. I’m extremely blessed to have Claudia in my life. She has changed my life for the better, not only am I healthy in my body I’m very knowledgeable as well.  I couldn’t imagine training with anyone else and with her support, guidance and expertise I just qualified for nationals to compete for my pro card.

When I first heard about the Body revision by Claudia Ultimate challenge I was both intrigued but in a way a bit doubtful. How can a person lose 20 pounds in 6 short weeks ? The task seems tremendous but I have to tell you first hand it IS possible !!! How do I know ? Because I accepted the challenge and not only lost the 20 but lost 24 pounds going from 242.2 to 218.2 !

On your first day there are pictures, a weigh in, some paperwork and a strategy session. Claudia will go over different diets, calorie allotments and what to expect from the program. From then on the workouts begin! Each workout concentrates around a certain muscle group but the “feel” is an overall workout with concentration on keeping your heart rate up. All along the way Claudia is there answering all questions you may have.

The first week I lost a lot of weight . Then about the end of week 2, the weight loss was sort of flat. This also happened in week 5. This first time Claudia identified the problem as portion control. I use the “my fitness pal” app as my food log but was too generous on estimating portions. The second time I hit the diet plateau was when she advised me to increase my cardio intensity and fluctuate it. After doing both of these I started to see my weight on the scale move again.

Here is the short list of things I got from this program beyond just losing 24 pounds and looking and feeling great. 1. How to use the machines properly 2. Proper diet and nutrition 3. Supplements that can help your body heal sore muscles faster 3. Target heart rates to get the most out of your cardio 4. Working through sore muscles (had a sore calf muscle a few times) 5. Emotional support and professional coaching 6. Words and advice before your weekend…and this is just a fraction of what you get out of the program !!

Claudia is an awesome trainer and a very friendly, fun and humorous person to work with. She has the credentials and trains both professional competitors to regular people like me. This program is the jump start that I needed to get my body back on track and in the right direction! I am so inspired now and I have to say how awesome it was to see 218.2 on that scale at the end of 6 weeks !! Am I where I want to be weight wise? No I am not, ..not yet at least. Am I closer than I was 6 weeks ago ? Absolutely, and I now have the motivation and knowledge to back me up. My new short term goal is 210….then 10 more to 200 and I will re-evaluate then.

This program works and Claudia tailors the program for you ! If you follow the program, try your best and are always HONEST with yourself in regards to amount of food/exercise you will be successful !

My Name is Melissa and I am a 42-year-old wife and mother of three (twin 20 year old daughters and a 16 year old son).  I am a retired schoolteacher and currently coaching students in voice and acting.

I have always been careful with my diet and have kept my weight “in check” at around 140 pounds (I’m over 5’7”).  I always stayed fit by running, spending time on the elliptical machine and doing anything cardio.  Unfortunately, my life as I knew it imploded in 2013, when I was diagnosed with a very aggressive type of breast cancer at the age of 39.  Most people believe that when a person goes through chemotherapy, that they lose tons of weight.  This is NOT true.  On my particular “chemo cocktail” I gained over 30 pounds!!!  So I wasn’t only bald, but fat too!   I must admit, that during this time I would eat anything that I could keep down.  This would often times include sweets and carbs.  The Chemo and Radiation made me extremely weak, so much so that I didn’t have the strength to walk around the block or even to open a water bottle.

After a year of these life saving, horrendous treatments, I began to exercise again and try to get my pre-cancer body back. Have you ever tried to lose weight, and yet, you see no results?  You eat “right,” you exercise, you abstain from all desserts…but zilch….not one pound comes off.  This was exactly what happened to me.  I charted my weight loss on a calendar that I had taped to the bathroom wall above my scale.  For 6 weeks, I weighed myself daily and recorded the number.  I worked out hard, I ate clean and yet, my weight stayed exactly where it was when I started 6 weeks prior.  It would only go up or down by a pound or two.  I was devastated and hit yet another low in my bout with cancer. I honestly thought that I was never going to lose weight again. That this was just going to be my life…a life that I was grateful to even have.  I didn’t know what to do.  I thought about getting a trainer but that seemed too intimidating, PLUS what were they going to tell me that I didn’t already know or already do??  But since I was at an all time low as far as my body went, I had nothing to lose and started scouting out trainers at the gym.  One stood out and I summoned the courage to approach her.  I am so grateful that I did.  When I contacted Claudia and told her my problems, issues and concerns, she just flashed her knowing smile and assured me that she could help me, and believe me, she has.

Claudia gave me a diet and started training me five days a week.  I absolutely LOVE working out with Claudia.  I had no idea how hard I could actually push myself and how focused I could be. Claudia is a perfect combination of tough and sweet. She knows exactly how to motivate you, so that you will see results, all the while making you laugh.   She took the time to get to know me, my body make up, my weaknesses, my fears and has created a training and diet program to help me conquer them all.  She has been a great cheerleader for me on this hard but rewarding journey.  In six months I have lost more than 30 pounds and I feel the strongest and healthiest I have EVER felt.

I can’t believe the diet works, because it is the most food I have ever consumed in one day! Apparently, I wasn’t eating ENOUGH food to lose weight!  I’m eating every 2-3 hours…and I’m ALWAYS full.  I very rarely cheat because I don’t crave “bad” food while on this diet.

At the beginning of this journey, my goal was to lose twenty pounds.  Well, what is wonderful and amazing is that as I reach my goals, I find that I have developed new and improved goals. I have now started competing in Triathlons and I am actually going to run in my first marathon in October.  I am seeing more and more results in my muscle tone, a huge increase in lean muscle mass and more importantly; I have much more energy and feel so much stronger.  Claudia has shown me how all of this was possible and helped me achieve these results.  Claudia is amazing.  She is not only my trainer, she is my friend.
